I would like to thanks Leatherman and HomBel for putting this Multi Tools Skeletool Cx at my disposal to perform this test.

Leatherman Skeletool CX, the best Every Day Carry Multi tools?

First Impressions

The most surprising when unpacking the Skeletool CX is its weight and volume, simply bluffing. Once in your pocket fixed by its clip, you do not feel any more ...

The finish is impeccable and the avant-garde look with its perforated handle is just a feast for the eyes. On the CX finish, a part of the handle is carbon plated. You'll never get tired of admiring it.

Everyday use

The Skeletool CX comes with a nilon sheath to be worn at your belt. But honestly with such a low volume and small weight, it's intended to fit in your pocket. With its clip, the Skelettol is extremely discreet.

The Skeletool also features a hook for attaching it to a backpack or an harness for example. Very handy for always having it ready in every situation.

The blade of the Skeletool is accessible without having to open it and that makes it very interesting.

Thanks to a large lateral notch on the blade, it opens with one hand. Even with gloves, the opening remains easy. With its well balanced weight and grip, the Skeletool will easily replace your EDC pocket knife. I see the Skelettol more as a “knife and multitools” than as only a multitools.

With the Skeletool, you no longer need to carry an additional knife...

Composition of Skeletool CX

A very sharp 154CM steel blade accessible without having to open the Skeletool. Robust, well designed, neither too large nor too short. Note that the 154CM steel blade is suitable for CX finish. On the SX finish the blade is in 420HC and serrated on its base.

A needlenose pliers convenient to catch small objects, like to extirpate a recalcitrant battery from a flash for example.

Carabiner hook with bottle opener.

A tip holder to hold a bit of the Bit Kit.

The handle contains a second bit. You always have 4 heads with you, a double in the tip holder and the second in the handle. The Skeletool comes with a double cruciform tip and a double flat end.

In conclusion

Light is right!

Thanks to its compact size, the Skeletool is quickly forgotten in the pocket, no need to carry it in its sheath.

After a few days of use, the Skeletool will quickly become your best everyday companion, always at your fingertips when you need it.

Whether it's to open a carton or a bottle, tighten a screw, bend a nail, the Skeletool will always be there, ready to help you ...

Of course, it does not have all the functions of the full size Leatherman multitools.

But let's face it, it's enough for 99% of your everyday needs. And for the remaining 1% ? Just keep a full size in the glove box or in your EDC bag ....
